The Bethnal Greens
A FAMILY LIVING, GROWING AND EATING IN LONDON'S EAST END
Almost daily blogging from a family in London's East End. Creative and healthy dishes that are intentionally easy to whip up, especially with two youngsters in the house. So, whether you're a family, a couple or even solo, this is a must follow food blog that has already taken East London by storm and gone global.
Greens Split Pea Soup with Oven Roasted Chickpeas
Split peas don't make an appearance in our cooking repertoire too frequently, but when they do we find ourselves preparing them in this way and enthusing how we should have this more often!
Braised Kale with White Beans on Toast
Summer salad leaves are making an appearance and we hope to have a few apples and plums come autumn. The brassicas, rucola and African kale that we planted in the autumn served us well through the winter and took a break for spring. But, baby, now they are back with a vengeance.
This dish may seem a little labour intensive, but remember, a quiche is a labour of unselfconscious love and requires some elbow grease if you aren't just buying a supermarket or deli lorraine. As a bonus, this makes for great leftovers and is very nice eaten the next day.
Peperonata and Tomato and Basil Bruschette
If you too like to indulge in the occasional sparkle of prosecco, then these bruschette are a perfect match for a refreshing beverage after a long day in the sun.
